The Parish Council intends to reduce the time that certain streetlights are lit. Rather than staying on all night some lights will be fitted with a device that turns them off between midnight and 5 am.

A draft list of lights to be changed is below. Most of these lights are on residential streets or rural roads.

The benefits of this change will be:

• Energy conservation (by approximately 50% per light)
• Reduced electricity costs
• Reduced light pollution

The cost of changing each light is approximately £30, and the change will pay for itself in just over 2 years at current energy prices.

We expect that in some areas residents will prefer to have lights on all night, and so we are consulting residents.

If you have a comment to make about these changes please contact the Parish Clerk

The deadline for comments is Friday 27th January 2007.
