Provision of hardstanding for 65, 73,  and 75 Queens Cottages. Provision of cross-overs for 71 and 85 Queens Cottages. Retention of garage for 69 Queens Cottages.

23 local residents attended the meeting whilst this application was discussed, all of whom expressed strong objections to the proposal. The Planning Committee were again unanimous in supporting their objections which are summarised as follows :-

(1)  Despite the assurance in the Transport Assessment that the impact on Jonas Lane/Queens Cottages would be minimal.
, this is not borne out by current experience. At present the parked cars in Jonas Lane present a real traffic hazard with cars frequently having to reverse when meeting oncoming vehicles. Obviously it is critical for emergency vehicles to have clear access and only last April a fire appliance experienced this problem. It is suggested that the District Council confirm this with the Fire Brigade.

(2)  The loss of the existing garages is to be deplored and contrary to the Council’s assertion that they are difficult to let it is understood that currently 7 are let and other Council tenants would like to rent one.

(3)  The MB supplementary safety audit comments still indicate concern over refuse collection access etc.

(4)  Despite the piled construction of the access road adjoining the oak tree it is considered that its root system is still likely to be affected, being deprived of rainwater by the adjoining paved areas

Detached garage/store to replace existing ggarage

No objection.

WD/2007/1787/F  Four Ways, Turners Green
Single storey extensions to font & side of existing dwelling, new garage (reduces garage size) increased parking area (drive instead of off road parking) & alterations to vehicular/pedestrian access

No objection

WD/2007/1739/F  St John The Baptist Church, Tidebrook
Construction of single storey extension and access walkway.

No objection in principle but consider that the building deserves more suitable materials for the construction of the walkway etc. Metal would be more appropriate for both visual and practical reasons as being on the north side timber would very soon attract algae and become slippery and the columns become affected by wet rot at ground level. Visually they also appear to look too slender
