The Last Will and Testament of William Wallis
In the name of God Amen I William Wallis of the parish of Wadhurst in the County of Sussex Gardener Being in perfect Health of Body and of a sound Mind and understanding Praised be Almighty God for the same and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to Die Do this Thirty First Day of August in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Seven Make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First and Principally I recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping through the Intercession and Merits of my Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free Pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins and to Inherit Everlasting Life in the Kingdom of Heaven And my Body I committ to the Earth from whence it was taken to be Devoutly Buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter Named And as Touching all that the disposition of all that my Real and Personal Estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God of his infinite goodness and Mercy to Bestow upon me I Give devise and dispose thereof on manner following First I give and Bequeath unto my Loving Brother John Wallis of Sandhurst in the County of Kent Taylor for the Sum of Five Shillings of Lawfull Money of great Britain to be paid unto him by my my Executrix hereinafter Named within Three Months next after my Decease Also I give devise and Bequeath unto my Loving Wife Katherine Wallis All that my Messuage or Tenement together with the Garden and Backside thereto belonging All which said premises are situate Lying and being in the Town of Wadhurst in the County aforesaid and is now in my own Occupation Together with all that my Household Goods and Furniture, Beds, Beding, both Woollen and Linen, Wearing Apparel and Working Tools of all sorts, and all other my Household Goods and Furniture of whatsoever Nature or kind soever the same and or is that shall be in my possession or Elsewheres belonging unto me at the time of my Decease for and during the Term of her Natural Life And from and immediately after the Decease of my said Wife Katherine Wallis I Give Devise and Bequeath the aforesaid Messuage or Tenement Backside and Garden together with all that my aforesaid Household Goods and Furniture unto my Niece Ann Hoare Daughter of my Brother in Law Edward Hoare of Chittingstone in the County of Kent Butcher and to her heirs and Assignes forever To Hold  the aforesaid Messuage or Tenement Backside Garden Household goods and Furniture unto my said Niece Ann Hoare and to her heirs and Assignes forever Also I give and Bequeath unto my Loving Wife Katherine Wallis all such Sum or Sums of Moneys, Book Debts, Bills, Bonds, and Benefitt (After Payment of my Just Debts Funeral Expenses and Legacy above mentioned be duly Executed and paid) wherewith I do hereby charge the same for the true Payment thereof And I do hereby Nominate, Ordain, Constitute,  Appoint, and make my said Loving Wife Katherine Wallis my full and sole Executrix to this my Last Will and Testament hereby Revoking disannulling and making void all former and other Will or Wills by me heretofore made and do declare this to be my only Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said William Wallis the Testator have to this my Will and Testament being written and Contained on one Sheet of Paper have sett my Hand and Seal the day and Year first above written.
Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said William Wallis the Testator as and for his Last Will and Testament, who at his Request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have sett and subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto Thos Noaks  Richd Beale Stepn  Hunt                 William Wallis [and seal]
