Ticehurst Footpath Society

Walkers meet on the second Sunday in the month for a five mile circular walk, starting at 2 pm in winter and 2.15 in summer. There are two longer walks in summer, usually on the Downs, and one evening walk. The December walk ends with a scrumptious tea at a very hospitable member's house, to which all bring "goodies". Some walks are in the Ticehurst area, others further afield.

A very friendly atmosphere prevails and you get to know lots of people. Currently 63 members. Subscription £1 per member per annum Chairman, Peter Linger Tel 01435 882 574. Walks are advertised in the Ticehurst column of the Courier Newspaper, village news sheets, Ticehurst News & Views and the What's On / Calendar section of this website.

A Pocket Book of Walks Around the Parish of Ticehurst - 10 walks round the area - by Alan Drew [with illustrations by Carole Drew] published by the Parochial Church Council - small printed card covers - £2-00 [all profits to the Ticehurst Teenage Leisure Project] - available from Piccadilly Rare Books

Ticehurst Village Firework Fund

c/o Ticehurst Village Club, The Institute, Lower High Street, Ticehurst TN5 7BB Treasurer - Cathy Whiteman 01580 200 276

The Committee Members of Ticehurst Village Club formally established the Ticehurst Village Firework Fund in February 2000. For several years now Ticehurst's Recreation Ground has hosted an annual Bonfire and Fireworks Display. To date this display has been organised by the Village Club Committee but the display has only been possible due to the generosity of local people and businesses that annually donate considerable amounts towards the cost. The sole aim of the fund is to enable Ticehurst's Annual Bonfire Night and Firework Display to take place. We have a valiant team of bonfire builders and the firework display is organised and controlled by Ron Studholme. Fundraising takes place throughout the year. Whilst there is no admission charge, collections at the gate on the night help to raise a considerable sum which is then carried forward towards the next year's display.
