Ladybirds Development Fund

We have previously written about the need for a new preschool in Ticehurst, as the primary school rapidly improves and grows they will need the classrooms that Ladybirds currently rent. Plans have been approved for a purpose built preschool building on the existing school site and it is for this that we have launched the Ladybirds Development Fund. We have raised enough funds to complete the first phase of the project and the next phase is the building. As part of our ongoing fundraising we are holding a Grand Midsummer Ball at Salomons, Tunbridge Wells.

The event of the summer will be a night to remember, a special night for a special project:
Introducing the Debbie Curtis Radio Big Band

Using only the highest quality musicians, the band has performed at prestigious venues such as The London Palladium, The London Savoy and The Cafe Royal. The musicians have also performed with or alongside some of the biggest names in show business such as Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Jamiroquai and Robbie Williams, to name but a few! All are fully professional, no part timers or amateurs, all are specialists in Big Band, Jazz & Swing! First established in 1972 by Eddie Curtis, the band can cover the music of all the Big Bands, many eras and many styles. The band music library has over 1000 music arrangements and continues to grow! Debbie Curtis is Eddie's daughter, she is the band leader and vocalist, an accomplished musician and performer she is also an expert in Big Band music and the history that surrounds it. Debbie has a real passion for the music she grew up with and is also unique as the only fully professional female Big Band leader in the UK!

Set in 36 acres of gardens, woodland, rolling parkland and lakes, Salomons is an exclusive and secluded venue. The impact of the outside world is minimal, yet Salomons is within minutes of Tunbridge Wells. The historic Victorian Theatre at Salomons is one of the smartest venues of its kind in the area and is ideal for our event. The Magnificent Welte organ makes a spectacular backdrop on the stage; with wonderful acoustics the Theatre is the perfect setting for a delicious meal and a swing with the big band and all in a very good cause.
