Published below is the text of a letter received from Eric Lynn whom many of you will remember with love, respect and affection from his days here in Wadhurst with the Salvation Army, prior to his move just over a year ago to West Sussex.

Dear Friends,
Since being told that I have an inoperable cancer I have received so many cards, letters and other messages of support and promises of prayer that I find that I cannot acknowledge each one individually. I would therefore ask if you would please accept this letter as a sincere appreciation of your concern and prayers. I feel very humbled by the amount of support that has been expressed in so many ways. Thank you all.

There is little I can do to affect my condition physically - I can only pray for healing, and to know that my own prayers are being reinforced by those of so many friends, not only from Wadhurst but also from so many other places across the South East and further, is so encouraging.

At present I am feeling generally quite well, but how long this will be so I cannot know - I leave it in the Lord's hands whilst asking you to continue praying for me, please. I hope that one day I shall be able to report that our prayers have been answered in the way we have asked. As one dear lady wrote to me (I won't embarrass her by naming her), "If prayer can do it, Eric, WATCH THIS SPACE."

Whatever happens, my many happy memories of my time spent working with you for the Gospel in Wadhurst are a great source of strength to me, especially when unable to sleep at night.

My health apart, Marion and I are very happy in our new home, enjoying the sea air, a smaller, less work-intensive garden, shops close by with no hills to contend with and, of course, fellowship in worship at the Salvation Army Corps in Worthing.

Thank you again for all your promises of prayer and I can assure you that, as always, you are still in my prayers every day. With Christian love from Eric Lynn
